Well it's official:

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO Group today officially announced LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, to be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita. Here's the press release:

Batman is back to save Gotham City and the action will only build from here! Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO Group are teaming up once again to announce that LEGO® Batman™ 2: DC Super Heroes will be available beginning Summer 2012 for the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the Wii™ system, and Windows PC, as well as the Nintendo DS™ hand-held system, Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system, and PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system. The game is the sequel to the best-selling LEGO® Batman™: The Videogame, which to date has sold more than 11 million units worldwide.

LEGO Batman™ 2: DC Super Heroes complements the brand new, recently released LEGO® Super Heroes: DC Universe toy collection. The line includes five construction sets, such as The Batcave and three buildable, detailed action figures.

In LEGO Batman™ 2: DC Super Heroes, the Dynamic Duo of Batman and Robin join other famous super heroes from the DC Universe including Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern to save Gotham City from destruction at the hands of the notorious villains Lex Luthor and the Joker. Batman fans of all ages will enjoy a new and original story filled with classic LEGO videogame action and humor as players fight to put the villains back behind bars.

"LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes builds upon the action and cooperative gameplay experience established in our best-selling LEGO videogame to date, LEGO Batman: The Videogame," said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. "We're offering fans a rich and expansive Gotham City environment filled with cool characters, great customization options and plenty of surprises that families, young gamers and DC Universe fans can enjoy together."

"LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes further extends and combines both the Batman and LEGO videogame experiences to create very fun gameplay," said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Development and Production, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "Fans of all ages are going to enjoy the action and light hearted humor that TT Games and LEGO provide."

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes allows players to explore all new areas of Gotham City utilizing a variety of vehicles including the Batmobile and Batwing. In addition, they’ll be able to fight for justice by mastering new gadgets and suits, such as Batman's Power Suit and Robins’'Hazard Cannon, and using all-new abilities including flight, super-breath and heat vision.

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is being developed by TT Games and will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. For more information, please visit http://www.videogames.LEGO.com.

Some more inf on the game:

The coolest moment during the hands-off demo of Warner Bros. Interactive's action title Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes had nothing to do with the Dynamic Duo.

Instead, it was the image of Superman gliding through the skies of Gotham City, soaring to the tops of the tallest buildings and exhibiting feats of super strength.

The addition of the Man of Steel is part of a larger expansion for the Lego Batman series, which developer TT Games will bring back this summer.

Superman is one of several DC Comics characters to appear in Lego Batman 2, another re-creation of the comic book universe in toy block form. Heroes such as Wonder Woman and The Flash and villains including Lex Luthor and The Riddler will appear.

Another, more interesting addition: These characters will talk for the first time. As fans of the Lego series of games remember, characters used facial and body expressions to convey emotions, adding a large dose of charm. Now, they finally have a voice.

The demo showcased in San Francisco picks up during a huge brawl during the Gotham City Man of the Year Awards, crashed by the Joker and his henchmen.

Batman and Robin storm on to the scene to break up the melee and capture their nemesis.

Just like the first Lego Batman, the sequel features a combination of third-person combat and cooperative puzzle solving, as Batman and Robin work together to navigate each level.

Assisting them are several special suits placed at key level locations, such as a Sensor Suit that cloaks Batman, a Hazard Suit that turns Robin into a super-firefighter and an Electricity Suit that Batman wears to absorb and redistribute power.

The sequence continued to demonstrate the strengths of the Lego series: great combat and well-crafted, cooperative puzzle solving.

However, the best part of the Lego Batman 2 play-through was Superman flying through an open Gotham City. He can pick up large objects such as cars and fling them with ease, as well as use his signature heat vision and freeze breath powers.

Players can also use Superman to seek out hidden collectible blocks, some of which are hidden in difficult spots. Although players can't grab these blocks with Superman, it's a good example of how he can scout locations and potential routes.

It's not clear how the other superheroes (and villains) will factor into the adventure, but Lego Batman 2 seems promising so far.

The game will be available for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS and PlayStation Vita.

Thanks for the link.

Like you i too need a Flash fig,the design looks really cool. But i don't understand why Lego have used a helmet piece for him, i expected him to just have a printed head like Captain America. Seems rather strange to me as both the Flash and Cap have the same sort of head costume in the comics, i can only guess that Lego thought that they needed a proper helmet so that the Flash would look better alongside Batman.

I got mine on Friday morning with the sweet new Luthor fig, i have managed to get on the game a little since yesterday and i have to say it's superb!!

So far i have only played as Batman and Robin, so i cant wait to play as Superman and all the other DC heroes. The game is much better than the first one IMO.

Got mine Thursday, but haven't played a whole lot. I have played as Superman, and he is awesome! He can do things that it would take Batman several suits to do, plus fly of course.

Hope it doesn't get you in trouble. I can't put it down, to the point where I'm starting to shirk responsibilities of housework and childcare :P

Oh man i so know that feeling, i too cant put this game down. Every time i get a chance i am on it :D

Nearly at the end of the story now, but i have missed a lot of things like gold bricks and kits so i will have to go looking for everything else later.

I would love to see Lego making some sets based around this game, i would love to have the Luthor/Joker robot or the Juggernaut vehicle as both are superb...hell i would even like some of the Luthor bots.

A movie adaptation of the very popular LEGO Batman video games was announced at this year's New York Comic Con. Now the trailer for LEGO Batman: The Movie - DC Superheroes Unite is here and you can watch it below!

The film is set to be released in spring 2013 and appears to have the voice cast from the video game reprising their roles for the movie.

You can view the trailer here :geek:

The trailer is pretty much made up of the cut scenes from the game, i was a little disappointed that we didn't get anything different.

I imagine that they did something really quickly to follow the NYCC annoucement ;) Its due in spring of next year so I'm sure its going to be all good. And we have no confirmation that the actors of the video game will reprise their role in the movie ;)

You are most likely correct about the trailer.

But i bet that the fottage used in the trailer will also be used in the movie, they will most likely add new scenes so that the story fits together nicely.
