Star Wars sets 2013

Postby xwingyoda » Wed Jul 11, 2012 9:33 pm

Since the SDCC is bringing us news, its time for a new topic regarding the 2013 sets.

LEGO Star Wars – Saturday, July 14
May the Force be with San Diego Comic-Con visitors as LEGO Systems unveils the new
LEGO Star Wars Rancor Pit construction set, one of 20 new LEGO Star Wars sets launching
in 2013 and a sneak preview of the latest LEGO Star Wars episode slated to air on Cartoon
Network. To complete this day’s expedition, a one-of-a-kind 5-inch Luke Skywalker in
LEGO form will be given away to one lucky winner who enters the raffle.

OK so here what we have so far:
* 20 sets !!
* the so anticipated Rancor Pit

OK I can't wait for pics on that Rancor. The beast won't be that huge since it ill fit in the pit that will be undet the palace. Man after all these years we've been wanting a Rancor I am really excited !! Lets hope we'll have the set list this saturday ;)

Well It looks like the rumours about the 4 holes in the base of the palace were right after all! :D

I wonder what they will fit into the set as it will have to work as a stand alone sets as well combined with the Palace set! Rancor keeper fig is a dead cert and luke. Maybe another Gamorean? The set might have 3 sides/walls but 2 open ends would make for better playability. Large Door to crush the rancor? That might make it hard to combine with the pallace set.

Now all we need is the Rancor as big as the new T-rex! :geek:

Amazing set! The Rancor does not disappoint on size either! I can't wait to see a shot of this with the palace set sitting on top! :geek: :geek:

Well it should look good, but you wont be able to have the tower attached to the palace as their is nothing under it to support it

I wonder if there is now attaching point on the Pit set for the tower, so that the guard tower is now at palace level?

The postion of the 4 locking pyramids looks like you will have to have the back of the jabbas palace open or the gate will not be able to be raised too.

Edit: Scratch that last part. The gate looks like it cannot be raised at all when the palace is on top, which is a shame. :(

I guess having the tower at the lower level would give an extra play option to the sets, that's something i really like/

As for the gate it's a shame it cannot be raised with the palace on top. :(

Holly cow, what a brilliant Rancor :geek: as afraid to have a small beast but its scale is just perfect !! Great to have the keeper !!

Regarding the pit I fail to understand how it connects to the palace. Why does it have a huge gap on the floor ? If you put the palace on top, the tower will just hang in there ?

EDIT: reminds me of the Kenner scale:

My my ... that is an awesome set ... :D

Regards the gate being able to be lifted when the Palace is on the top, don't forget, the back of the palace is hinged (see photo below). I bet, if you open the back, you can lift the gate, with the two sets on top of each other :)

Probably but will look weird with the tower in the air and the half palace opened. And lets hope those tiny hinges can support the opened palace in the air ;)

Just put some LEGO columns underneath it and pretend that the Tower was built on pile foundations. Probably realistic anyway because Tatooine is a desert. ;)

I am afraid that won't work, as the 2 of the pyramids fit into the holes in the bottom of the part that opens up.
