8967: Agents 2.0 / Gold Tooth’s Getaway – A review by CT

This is from the second wave of Agents sets, cunningly named “Agents 2.0” and released in 2009. It features Gold Tooth on the run from Agent Swipe. According to Peeron, there are 69 pieces and the RRP is $10.

First, let’s look at figures:
Image
We’ve previously seen Gold Tooth escaping from Agent Fuse with a bomb-armed gold bullion in Mission Three (“Gold Hunt”) and rescuing Dr Inferno in Mission Six (the “Mobile Command Centre”). He hasn’t changed. All the same, right down the golden pistol probably stolen from Mr Scaramanga (and there, very unintentionally leads us to more film franchise connections.) Agent Swipe is a rookie to the team. He looks a little worried, too. He wears the new Agents body armour, seen in all the 2009 sets but none of the 2008 ones. Pictured below:

Interestingly, both Swipe and GT have the same hair!

First vehicle – Swipe’s ATV/Trike thing. Yes, flick-fire missiles abound

Next Gold Tooth’s bike. Unusual-shape chassis with the now-common bike body. Telescope for weapon at the front. The chassis and body join via the holes in the body, not the underside clips as you would expect.

GT has stolen a golden T-Rex. This isn’t an uncommon part but is seen in metallic gold for the only time. It’s a really nice piece that wouldn’t look out of place in an Indy set.

The complete set:

I’d give it a 8 out of 10 for it’s price and size.

Finally and in no way planned but I started myself off above:

Nice review for an average set. I mean,it looks interesting, but the motercycle is a turn off for me.
Very funny mini-comic in the end :D

Yeah, I fancy that one, too.

Oh, I don't believe we have any Agents reviews on here yet. I was stumped as to where to put it. I settled on City as I figure they must operate in a city at least some of the time (at least, moreso than in space or in medieval times).
