Space Police VToL

A few months ago Nnen built his RRTS Gunship and I thought it would look quite nice in minifig scale. That was that. Then when I heard of his passing and during the recap of his 'career' The Brothers Brick reminded me about it so I figured...why not build it myself? Space police is probably the theme I build second most so it was perfectly natural to go about putting it in that genre. His original MOC was a nice reference to someone who doesn't know the first thing about these types of craft but I do feel like this MOC is all me. C&C welcome, always.

Like I said on Flickr, this thing is gigantic. Getting those rotor housings to look as close as they do to the original is pretty impressive as well. For something that size it may be a bit blocky in the fuselage, but given the tiny source material you were working with I think it works perfectly. I do also see the small changes here and there (such as in the rear stabilizer fins) which actually add some nice character to it.

I see in the cockpit there's a gap behind the two seats, does anything go there?

You mean this pic? I did have a bulkhead built with a hatch and all but when I got finised building the seats and control panels, I found that the gunners seat wouldn't fit with the canopy on the ship. If the canopy didn't have that brick connection the seat would fit. There is a giant cheat....when I put the canopy on, I lay down the gunners seat. :D So, unfortunately, the bulkhead wouldn't fit where I wanted it to go (right behind the seat). There is also clear space from the rear of the cockpit to about where the thruster nozzles are that is tall enough for a fig to stand. That's how they board, under the tail. I had thought about doing an interior in that space but I got lazy and also really didn't have any ideas of what to do other than a couple of cells and/or a bench and maybe a small vehicle.

I just noticed that this isn't posted in the MOC's section. My bad.

That's fine, MOCs can really go either in the MOC section or the theme sections, but it'll probably be less noticed here :P Would you like it moved to the MOC section?
